Co-edited by Stacey Choe and Natalie Kennedy, A Philanthropist's Guide To Giving is a handbook for philanthropists and foundations with the desire to practice strategic, impactful philanthropy in Asia. Few resources exist in the Asia region that can serve as references along the full journey of philanthropy. This guide touches on all relevant points at the various stages of this journey — from designing a philanthropy strategy or involving family members in giving, to evaluating the impact of philanthropy or pursuing collaboration while giving.

OUR WORK

As a boutique philanthropy advisory, we know how to cater our services to the needs and nuances of families in Asia - our work with them - be it in aligning their internal foundation strategy, or designing programmes that fit their interests and aspirations; are built on international knowledge and expertise. RIA has over 30 years of experience and networks with leading global foundations, best practices and experts.

We have been working with family foundations, INGOs and regional NGOs on:

  • philanthropy strategy in Malaysia for vulnerable children, and in Singapore for mental health, and climate;

  • capacity building for organisations in the Philippines on ocean conservation, in Malaysia for women's health, and in Indonesia on impact ecosystem building;

  • building fundraising strategies in the region for women's education institution, humanitarian aid, public health: malaria and hepatitis; and

  • designing new philanthropy initiatives for the sector.

HOW WE WORK

We work behind the scenes with organisations and funders seeking to grow their impact in Asia

We are big believers in building and facilitating stronger infrastructure for philanthropy and impact in Asia

We love the blank canvas that comes with building something new, and we have experience working at multiple tempos - whether this means a patient, iterative approach or delivering on a timeline with a blaring sense of urgency

We are engaged on a project-, retainer-, or secondment/consultancy basis
